SPENSER AT KALAMAZOO, MAY 9-14, 2022
57th International Congress on Medieval Studies
Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo, Michigan)
As announced by the organizers, 2022's Congress will be on Zoom again.
Spenser at Kalamazoo invites paper abstracts for three sessions on any topic dealing with Edmund Spenser, including teaching. As always, we encourage submissions from newcomers, graduate students, and established scholars of all ranks.
According to rules established by the Congress, those submitting abstracts for one session may not submit abstracts for other sessions in the same year. Because Kalamazoo has traditionally encouraged experiment, preliminary exploration, and discussion, papers submitted should not have been read elsewhere nor be scheduled for publication in the near future.
The process for submitting abstracts has changed. Starting last year, abstracts are no longer emailed to the session organizer. Instead, all abstracts are submitted through the Congress's Proposal Portal:
Abstracts that outline an argument are usually more successful than ones that just announce a topic. We recommend an abstract length of 300-700 words. Reading time for the completed paper should not exceed 20 minutes. If your abstract is accepted, we will ask for the text of your completed paper one month in advance of the actual conference. Deadlines September 15, 2021 for abstracts April 9, 2022 for completed papers Please direct questions and other correspondence to: David Wilson-Okamura david@virgil.org Sincerely, Sean Henry, University of Victoria Susannah Monta, University of Notre Dame Bradley Tuggle, University of Alabama Jennifer Vaught, University of Louisiana - Lafayette David Wilson-Okamura, East Carolina University
